Current Vacancies
Graduate technical implementation engineers
Polar Moment is looking to recruit bright graduates to train as technical implementation engineers for our payment systems consultancy based in our Prague office. Candidates must have excellent communication skills and be looking for an exciting career in the card payments industry.
We work with the leading payment technologies, such as Postilion, Base 24 and Openway. Our customers are major retailers, payment processors, ATM providers, banks and card schemes. Projects are typically located across Europe, with some customers operating globally.
Preference will be given to individuals with strong technical skills who can demonstrate the ability to quickly understand complex systems. As an organisation, we work with a number of complex payment products. As very few people have experience with these products, we will provide full training to achieve the required level. Our project work usually involves solution architecture, system installation, configuration, testing, performance tuning and accreditation with the payment schemes.
Candidates must have a degree in IT or computer science, or have studied topics with significant technical content. Excellent communication and presentation skills, willingness to travel (if required) and desire to learn new technologies are also essential.
To apply, please send your CV to Petra Watson at [email protected].
Java Developer
We are seeking a candidate to join us as a Java developer based in Prague.
The role involves the production, or use of, software designs expressed in UML and implementing them to match the customer requirements using a range of Java technologies.
Experience required:
A degree in computing or equivalent, with at least one year's experience after graduation
Software experience:
The core requirement is a good understanding of Java technologies, particularly J2SE and HornetQ, although some J2EE experience would also be useful. Other useful experience includes: MySQL, protocol design, XML, and user interface construction. It is important that candidates are aware of software design patterns and the requirements of developing enterprise architecture. The predominant operating system is Linux, although there are some Windows development possibilities.
Desirable experience/software:
Candidates with any knowledge of the broadcast or payments industries are desirable. Candidates must be fluent in English; knowledge of another European language would also be useful. We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates with experience of Sparx Enterprise Architect, or other UML-based technologies.
The project will be based on the delivery of incremental phases and development will be carried out loosely aligned to Agile processes.
Desirable skills include: JMS, Guice, mocking framework, TDD, Agile and scrum.
Qualifications required:
BSc in Computing or equivalent experience. Without a degree, a Java certification would be preferred. Particular experience of HornetQ/JMS message design, broadcast equipment and associated protocols are an alternative to academic qualification.
